...spam e-mails. Like everybody else, I get dozens a day across my various e-mail accounts. Who on earth responds to spam? I mean, somebody must be, or they wouldn't keep sending them, right? But who would look at a spam e-mail, complete with typos and bad grammar and the most questionable offers screaming "DUBIOUS SOURCE!!!", and think it might actually be a wise decision to take them up? "Right, let's trust this totally unaccredited, totally unchecked, totally unknown to me doctor to lengthen my penis!" Or to give me more financial credit, or whatever.
Bizarre.
(PS: Girish - in light of your recent spam woes (sorry to hear) - this post is for you! :-))

Jenna, it got to the point where I was getting about 30-40 of these a day! Argh.
I'm reminded of this well-read poet-blogger I know who for months was deleting spam messages from this one source, only to discover eventually that it was another poet sending him "found text manipulation/collage" poems based on spam messages as source text. They were nearly indistinguishable from, um, spam. :-)

:-) - that's a good one, girish.

Exactly. Though you do read about people actually falling for these "Nigerian scams" (or whatever they are called) and they can get quite tragic - pastor sent to jail because he started defrauding to pay money for the scam etc. But financial greed is one thing; I'm still more incredulous about the "take [name of dodgy product] to lengthen your penis - no side-effects whatsoever!!" type of spam e-mails, which is just pure and sheer stupidity.
